IDEAL GASES

***State: Gas***

***state does not change during a process***

1. Monoatomic gases (Ar, He) γ = 1.6

2. Diatomic gases (air, O 2 , N 2 , H 2 ) γ = 1.4

3. Triatomic gases (CO 2 , SO 2 ) γ = 1.3

Equations

P*V = m*R*T V = volume in m 3

P*v = R*T v = specific volume in m 3 /kg

u = c v *T u = internal energy in kJ/kg

c v = specific heat kJ/kg.K (constant volume)

Δu = u 2 –u 1 = c v *(T 2 -T 1 )

h = cp*T h = enthalpy in kJ/kg

c p = specific heat kJ/kg.K (constant pressure)

Δh = h 2 –h 1 = c p *(T 2 -T 1 )

h = u + Pv

Properties: P, T, V, v, u, h ***use equations***
